I seen this immage of a chicken on a nest and thought I would try and trace it on paper with a pencil. |
I designed a holding device to hold the pencil but it will not float, so I built another that will fit the spindle and is spring assisted so it will float over uneven surfaces. |
A photo of the improved holder, I designed the tip to hold a lead from a pencil, a diamond tip or a carbide engraving tip.By the way, the spindle is not turning, turned off. |
This is a close up view of the engraved chicken, the material is a piece of bronze kick plate from a door. |
Another view, it was difficult to get a good clear photo without reflection. The chicken is about 1 ¼" tall by 1 ½" wide. |
Any way this was just a test to see if I could make a diamond engraving adjustable spring assisted tool. And yes they are available on line, it looked simple to make, so I built my own. |

Engraving on marble is something I wanted to try, and here I am using a carbide tip and the font is set to fill. |
It looks pretty good for a first attempt, if I wanted a deeper engraved image I would do another pass. |
