This is the result of the roughing tool path, a ¼" end mill removes the majority of material. The text is engraved using a 60° V bit.

photo02

Once the paint dries I skim off a very thin layer (.040") using a series of ball nose endmills leaving a smooth surface.
Glenda cut my hair for many years, deciding to retire December 31 2025.

photo04

This is a close up of the comb, I used a 0.0625" ball nose end mill to remove the material between the teeth of the comb. The plaque may be hung on the wall.
The plaque is 9 inches by 6 inches.
The scissors and comb stand about 0.050 above the finished surface.

photo03

January 17 at Glenda's retirement party,
I think Glenda likes the plaque.

photo07

A piece of Black Cherry I carved for Mark and his family cottage.

photo08

Notice how the pocketed area where I placed the text is a different colour than the rest of the slab, the wood has just aged, in a short time it will all be the same colour.

photo09

Material is Black Cherry with a light stain live edge.

photo010

Here you can see the live edge a bit better.

photo011

This is my first attempt at 3D modeling.

photo012

Photos taken with my phone from the computer screen.

photo013

If I carve one like this I will provide better photos.

photo014

I can rotate the image on the screen to give a side or angle view.

photo015

I was asked to make a wall display plaque for a WW1 bayonet.
The bayonet sits on two stainless pins but the tip of the blade hung spaced away from the plaque, so I pocketed a strong magnet in the back that now holds the blade tip flush with the plaque.

photo016

A 3D wall plaque to hold your keys.

photo017

A friend asked if I could remake this sign for her garden. A wooden sign outside in the weather is never a good thing, however she can do what she likes. I recomended a clear exterior weather type finish, but .

photo018

This material is designed for outdoor all weather exposure, it has enameled painted aluminum skin on each side with a UHMW plastic interior.I engraved through the aluminum skin to the black internal plastic.

photo019

This is White Ash Live edge she can use indoors. 10" by 22" by ¾" text engraved with a 90 degree V bit and the stem and leaves machined with a eighth inch ball nose.

photo020

The wood is white pine and the file was FREE from Vectric Aspire designed by Michael Tyler.
The roughing cut ¼" end mill and finishing cut I used a 1/16" tapered ball nose.
the final cut file was over 500,000 lines of code.

photo021

This is my first attempt at GLASING .
I changed the text to M and P for Mark and Petra, their wedding anniversary is this month, so this gift is finished.

photo022

I used the paints I happened to have on hand and I think I could have used better colours.

Mothers Day Plaque, Original files supplied by Beki.

photo023

Mothers Day plaque for my Daughter-in-law. Designed by Beki and downloaded FREE from Vetric.com.

photo024

The wood is Black Cherry harvested from our wood lot. I altered the size from the original plans and edited the text.

photo025

The finish is a clear coat, the plaqe is 7 ½" diameter. Perhaps I should have added colour to the text.

Beki and Todd offer FREE design plans and tutorials once a week, these tutorials sure help me.

photo028

The names and date have been smugged for a reason, the text painted a light brown.

photo029

After the wedding I will post photos with the text exposed.

photo030

Yes the hockey sticks are there for a reason, the plaque is about 8 ½" square.

Wall Plaque as a gift from Black Cherry.

photo031

Black Cherry was cut from a branch with an elbow allowing the bark to border the engraved portion.

photo032

To fit the text to the engraveable area, I took a photo and measurments then imported that image and data to my design software.

photo033

The wood slab is about 50 inches long 12 inches high and one inch thick, I thickness planed it to three quarters inch thick.

photo034

Not a good photo.

photo035

I used a light stain to glaze the text and finished with a few coats of sealer and then acrylic.

photo036

This will look great hanging at their cottage.

photo037

This was inspired by a neighbour and a unused scrabble board, I though I would try it on a slab of Birch.

photo038

It is about 18 by 14 inches and 3/4" thick, with key hole mounting slots on the back.

photo037a

Wedding anniversary.

photo038a

For a friend placed in his man cave.

Serving Tray, wood used is White Ash.

photo039

I designed serving trays that also serve as a wall plaque, there are slots on the back for wall hanging.
The tray is 16 by 8 inches with finger pockets at each end.

photo040

The wood I use is White Ash from our wood lot, cut, air dried, cut to board size with my sawmill, then used in my projects.

photo039a

Made for a friend to be sent to Germany as gifts.

photo040a

J.M. Schneiders Dutch Girl Logo.
The back of the coaster edge is removed so the coasters may be stacked with the raised portion fitting into the pocketed area of the coaster below.

photo042

The image is in a pocket 0.125" deep and V carved with a 60°bit.

photo043

The material is White Ash ¼" thick.

photo044

I made many of these as Christmas gifts for the JMS Golden Age Christmas Dinner, December 10 2025 at the Harvest Moon.
